I believe strongly in breeding border collies for their working ability and not for looks. I believe that every breeding should be about working ability, health and temperment. Looks - coloring, ear carriage, coat length, eye color - are secondary and of minimal importance. Yes, one certainly wants to like the looks of the pup or dog he or she buys. But these dogs were breed for work - and work is #1. Health and temperament are important because without good health and good temperment, the work will not follow.

Imp Glen ABC 192431
Glen was born in England on 25 October 1998. His dad, Blue, was one of my favorite dogs, and I so wanted another pup sired by him. Glen was the only male born in Blue's last litter. In the fall of 2000, I was privileged enough to return to England to attend the International... and to pick up my new dog. Glen was fully trained but he did not quite know if he really wanted to leave good old England. Once we were here in the US, he settled in and he is now very much MY dog.
Glen is semi-retired but occasionally trialing in Open. He is a thoughtful worker and very biddable. He has a natural outrun and loves to drive. He is good with close work such as in the barn or at the pen. Glen's hips are OFA Good and his eyes are checked often for PRA and he is clear. He is a DNA CEA Carrier. Glen has been neutered because of a mass which, thankfully, proved to be benign.

Shebaa Rob ABC 265951
Rob joined our family in January of 2006 [DOB: 06 July 2005] when he was about 6 months old. He came from Pennsylvania from a breeder who I now consider a good friend! Rob is a strong dog and takes a firm but quiet hand. He loves to drive! In 2008, he was trialing at the Pro Novice level.
Rob's first trial in 2009 was at Nearfield Farm SDT, East Conway, NH. Rob finished 5th in Pro Novice so I moved him up to Ranch and Open. He ran in Ranch and Open at the Ames' Cascade Farm SDT, Bath, NH. The trial ran the three days over the 4th of July weekend and the first time for a trial at the Ames' new, incredibly beautiful farm. He never placed in Open which was as expected but he managed the 350 yd outrun with only a bit of help and ran the course respectively. In Ranch [same course as Open including the 350 yd outrun but no shed] he placed twice, 5th and 4th, over the 3 day weekend. I was very pleased with how he handled the sheep and the course... up there with the "big guys".
Rob's hips are OFA Excellent and his elbows are Normal. He is DNA CEA Normal. He has been tested for PRA, is clear, and will be tested periodically. He has been neutered.
Photos below are of Rob at the Mad River Valley SDT, Waitsfield, VT, July 2008, on his Pro Novice run. Photos we taken by S Miller.
Below the Mad River photos are photos from the Ames' trial taken by F Tardif.

In Memorium Imp Jock ABC 106180
18 May 1993 - 03 April 2008
Jock is Glen's older half brother, and a son of Blue. He retired from trialing a few years ago but even last summer he would gather the sheep to bring them into the barn. When working, he was consistent, tireless and faithful. I will always love that fat head with one ear up and one ear down!
Wait for me at the Rainbow Bridge, Jocky.....
As always, I thank K Mercier for wonderful photos of my dogs!
